Completed Researches/Ongoing
• Synthesized and purified new materials from ionic liquids and organic salts for biomedical and sensing applications
• Evaluated the toxicity of chemotherapeutics before and after counterion variations
• Developed a liquid-liquid extraction method for extraction of phenol contaminants in waste water treatment based on hydrophobic ionic liquids
• Performed quantitative analysis of phenols extracted from waste water
• Developed a fluorophore from an organic salt for heavy metal detection
• Developed a protocol for determination of hydrophobicity of ionic liquids and novel organic salts (GUMBOS) using HPLC and UV-Vis
• Developed a pH nanosensors from ionic liquid nanodroplets
• Investigated properties of nanomaterials using TEM, SEM, DLS and Zeta Potential Measurements
• Developed multifunctional nanomaterials possessing paramagnetism, fluorescence, pH sensitivity and cancer targeting properties
• Synthesized biocompatible and biodegradable nanoparticles from organic salts that were selective to cancer cells in vitro
• Performed quantitative analysis of total protein content from lysed cells
• Determined the effect of chemotherapeutic candidates on folate biomarkers in cancer cells using western blot in a quest to establish the mechanism of cell death
• Currently developing an ionic liquid for extraction of heavy metals from waste water
